Subject: IMPORTANT: Washtenaw Linux Users Group
Greetings.
I am sending this message to inform the membership that I am stepping down
as "leader" of the Washtenaw Linux Users Group effective at the end of the
April meeting (April 18th). I no longer have the time to dedicate to the
users group and it is starting to show. I believe it is time for a change
in leadership for the good of the group. I would like to see continued
discussion about this on the list before the April 18th meeting.
It is my hope that someone will step forward and accept the challenge of
leading the group. I believe that the Linux community in the Ann Arbor
area is robust enough to continue to support a dedicated users group and
the loss of the group would be a loss to the community. We have already
brought together over 100 Linux users with experiences ranging from newbie
to guru. I'm willing to bet that every member has learned something from
the group (mostly positive I hope :).
I would also like to take a minute and thank all of you for supporting me
and the users group. Ever since I started the mailing list last year (1
year in April) and started monthly meetings soon after, I have received
tremendous support and encouragement from all of you. One event that
sticks in my mind most vividly is the night I tried to cancel the meeting,
but I was too late. There were already 15-20 people in the room (including
the guest speaker) before I got there in spite of the ice storm and the
closing of the school!
Again, thank you.
-Neil
