Ubuntu going into hibernate and shouldn't

I have been running ubuntu for the past couple of years as it seems to do
what I want and I haven't had any true troubles with it yet till now.

I have a couple of programs that I want to run and Ubuntu seems to going into
a sleep mode and only reactivates when I move the mouse or hit a key. I don't
want it to do that!!! As far as I know, I have gone into the power management
section and have everything turned off for putting the disks and system into
sleep or hibernation. Is there something that I am missing?
